Frequently asked questions

Is this Markdown to XML converter free?

Yes. No account, no sign-up, no watermark. Open the page and start converting.

Is my data private?

Yes. Everything runs in your browser. Your Markdown is read and processed on your device. Nothing is uploaded, nothing is logged.

Which Markdown tables are supported?

GitHub-style pipe tables. The alignment separator row is detected and removed, and escaped pipes inside cells are handled.

What is the difference between element and attribute mode?

In element mode, each column value is wrapped in a child element named after the column header. In attribute mode, each column becomes an attribute on the row element.

Can I customize the root and row element names?

Yes. Use the Root tag and Row tag fields to set any valid XML element name. They default to rows and row.

Can I embed this converter in my own app?

Yes. The engine that powers this page is the TabularJS JavaScript library. You can embed it in React, Vue, Angular or plain JavaScript.
