Paste CSV directly into the landing area, or drop a CSV, XLSX or XLS file. The delimiter is auto-detected.
2. Edit in the grid
Fix values, rename columns, add or remove rows. The XML output updates in real time.
3. Configure and download
Choose element or attribute mode, set root and row tag names, then copy or download as <code>.xml</code>.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between element and attribute mode?
In element mode, each column value is wrapped in a child element named after the column header: <name>Widget A</name>. In attribute mode, each column is an attribute on the row element: <row name="Widget A" />.
Can I customize the root and row element names?
Yes. Use the Root tag and Row tag text fields in the output panel to set any valid XML element name. They default to rows and row.
Are XML special characters escaped?
Yes. Characters like &, <, >, " and ' are always escaped to their XML entity equivalents (&, <, >, ", ') to produce well-formed XML.
Is my file private?
Yes. Everything runs in your browser. Your CSV or Excel file is read and processed on your device. Nothing is uploaded, nothing is logged.
Is there a file-size limit?
There is no server-side limit because nothing is uploaded. Very large files may take a moment depending on your computer.
Can I embed this converter in my own app?
Yes. The engine that powers this page is the TabularJS JavaScript library. You can embed it in React, Vue, Angular or plain JavaScript.
